TwinN

TwinN is a microbial inoculant

that is applied to crops, pastures and trees. The microbes are provided in a freeze-dried format in a vial that keeps them under vacuum to allow an extremely high number of microbes to be supplied to the crop. It also allows a reliable shelf-life (a major problem for most microbial biofertilisers). The different species of microbes in TwinN work together to colonise the roots, the soil zone very close to the roots (rhizosphere) and also move into the root, stem and leaf tissues (where they live as 'endophytes').

TwinN microbes increase crop productivity by multiple mechanisms: View Mechanisms of action.

  1. The microbes are all Diazotrophs and they fix N2 from the atmosphere into NH3 that can be used by the crop. This enables increased productivity with reduced nitrogen fertiliser applications.
  2. The microbes produce plant growth factors including auxins that drive bigger roots systems with more root hairs and better capture of nutrients. This means that more of the nutrients applied as fertilisers or just released from health soils, is captured. Increased Nitrogen Use Efficiency is an important benefit from TwinN.
  3. The microbes improve the availability of several key nutrients, including Phosphorous.
  4. The microbes help to stimulate the development of a healthy root and soil microflora and this is important in growing soil and crop productivity over time rather than eroding it.

TwinN is certified organic.
